Avery is returning to Ballibay for his third year in a row. They worked as a theatre director/cabin counselor in 2023/2024 and is happy to be adding creative writing onto his list of camp roles. Hopefully, he is able to help campers adjust and embrace the camp lifestyle like he learned himself his first summer. He is returning because he has found Camp Ballibay to be a home for anyone's personal, interpersonal and artistic journey. He believes it is a beautiful place to learn, discover, and finds it infinitely rewarding to be part of an educative space where the camper's work is collaborative and therefore inspired and inspiring.
Professional Bio:
Avery just graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a degree in theatre studies, concentrated in acting, with a minor in creative writing. In his time at school he performed in classical and contemporary plays such as Macbeth, The Three Sisters, and Everybody and has celebrated many theatrical techniques such as Commedia Dell Arte, Suzuki, Viewpoints; as well as gained experienced in different types of theatre: puppetry, mask work, devising, classical, new works, etc. He aims to be able to bring these varied, unique, and rich traditions to the different campers and experiences Ballibay has to offer. Avery has also explored playwriting and has directed original productions of plays written by other students, as well, directed his own original play "A Mortician's Family" and will be working on a play for Youth Audiences at camp!
