All of us at Ballibay hope this message finds you well in these unprecedented and uncertain times.
Our plan is for camp to be open this summer, and based on the information available now it seems that this is not an unreasonable expectation. So, we are still planning for all sessions to be available as currently scheduled. As an isolated community of fewer than 150 people we expect to be a safe and secure place this summer. After what promises to be an extended period of confinement, we believe that camp will be a great opportunity to continue sheltering in a small, secure community while having access to much-needed social interaction and arts activities on our beautiful mountaintop.
We will need to make some changes to ensure that the camp is as insulated as possible, such as requiring COVID-19 tests shortly before arrival for all campers and staff (presumably they will be more widely available by then), changing our drop-off procedure, and limiting family visits during camp to keep our community isolated. We shall continue to research best practices over the coming weeks, and produce a single document detailing all of the measures we’ll be implementing for summer 2020, to be distributed in May.
Elaine and Marnie are working remotely, but are available to you by email for any account questions. You can use the “contact us” tab at the bottom of any page on this site.
I’m at the camp; please feel free to call me at any time: 570-746-3223
After what will likely be a challenging spring for kids and families, we hope that the creative, caring energy of Ballibay this summer will be timely and welcome reprieve.
Best wishes, stay safe!
