Professional Bio:
For more than a decade, Megan has been working in the fields of ecology and science communication in a variety of settings. Their experience includes: research and field work (such as diamondback terrapin re-nesting projects, terrapin hatchling prey and habitat availability surveying, and assessment of anthropogenic disturbance on that habitat); museum education (focusing on watersheds and stormwater infrastructure); teaching after-school science clubs, school assemblies, and summer camps; farmers markets; urban farming; and beekeeping. Megan is currently working on a manuscript assessing the impact of a novel tornado disturbance on seedfall of different dispersal strategies in an old growth forest. Megan’s interests are wide-ranging, but they especially enjoy working through a lens of disturbance ecology; working with invertebrates, herbaceous plants, or stream systems; and sharing their sense of wonder for the natural world with others.
